Il marchio SALEWA nasce negli anni '30 del novecento, come produttore di selle e zaini. Durante gli anni sessanta SALEWA introdusse la produzione di ramponi e dei primi chiodi da ghiaccio in commercio. In seguito SALEWA iniziò la collaborazione con Reinhold Messner e Kurt Albert, e nel 1990 fu acquisita da Oberalp che ne trasferì la sede a Bolzano.
Smartwool realizza intimo tecnico in lana merino, dalle calze, agli strati base e intermedi e molto altro ancora.
